Joyce Sserunjogi Nalugya - Mukono, Uganda
Joyce is a parent of a deaf child, founder member and acting director
of NAPADEC, a non-governmental organisation founded in 2009 by parents of deaf children with
a goal of promoting and advocating for the rights of deaf children and young
people in Uganda. NAPADEC is duly registered under the Laws of the Republic of
Uganda under the Uganda Non- Governmental Organizations Registrations statute
of 1989 No. S.5914/9188. With support from Deaf Child Worldwide (DCW), NAPADEC
works towards improving communication between parents/families and their deaf
children and young people, ensuring that deaf children access quality
education, economic empowerment of women and girls, community involvement and
institutional capacity development.
